Major Croatian Cities

Zagreb is Croatia’s capital and largest city. Split is a center of Croatia’s tourist industry and Rijeka a shipbuilding and industrial center; Osijek is a commercial and transportation hub; and old Zadar is a center for many of the Adriatic islands. Other large towns include Karlovac, Pula, Dubrovnik and Vukovar.

Croatia’s most important mineral resources are oil, coal, bauxite and iron ore. Other exported minerals are calcium, asphalt, silica and salt.

Croatia is primarily an agricultural nation. Private family farms produce 80% of all grains, beets, potatoes and other vegetables, fruit, rapeseed and tobacco. Cattle, pig, sheep, and poultry products include meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese and wool. Croatia has large wine and olive industries.
