Potential Bombs and Suspicious Devices
If a suspicious object is found that could be an explosive
device or an incendiary device:
- Do not touch or disturb an unknown device.
- Do not touch or disturb anything close to an unknown device.
- If an unknown device is located within a building
following a bomb threat, activate the fire alarm to evacuate the building.
- The employee finding the device can immediately notify
the emergency coordinator as to what was found and where it is located.
- The emergency coordinator can evacuate that part of the building.
- The emergency coordinator can notify the Fire
Department and Police Department.
- The emergency coordinator can inform the responding
Firemen and Police Officers of the device location.
- Driveways around the building can be kept clear.
- A decision to re-enter the building can be made by the
emergency coordinator in consultation with a senior member of the Police Department or the Fire
Department.
- The results of an investigation can be used to improve
the emergency procedures
