ACTIONS
A great danger during a tornado is flying debris. If you
hear a tornado warning or see a tornado:
If indoors:
- Stay away from windows / doors leading outside
- Immediately seek shelter in a basement or designated
storm shelter
- In buildings without a basement, seek shelter in an
interior room under heavy furniture (table, desk)
- Avoid wide span roof areas such as auditoriums,
gymnasiums, cafeterias, and large hallways
- Remain in shelter until an all clear has sounded
If outdoors
- If possible, seek immediate shelter in the nearest
building
- If away from any buildings, seek shelter in the nearest
ditch or low area
- If in a vehicle, do not attempt to race a tornado. Stop
and seek shelter in the nearest building, ditch or low area

Be alert for these hazards, and if you find them, notify authorities.
