wonderful ways to evolve and change
- with testable results.
Archaic, Classical & Quantum Thinking
The differences between archaic, classical
and quantum thinking focus on beliefs and assumptions about reality. Archaic
perspectives assume that reality is governed by spirits, demons and gods.
Classical perspectives assume that reality is governed by natural laws.
Quantum perspectives assume that reality is not governed, rather reality
behaves as an emerging complex system.
People using archaic thinking try to control
reality by appeals to esoteric agencies. People using classic
thinking try to control reality controlled by applying natural
laws. In quantum thinking, reality is ultimately unpredictable,
yet can be influenced by applying systemic rules.
It's very hard to talk quantum using a language designed
to tell monkeys where the ripe fruit is. Terry Pratchett
In Science and Sanity (1933), Alfred Korzybski
proposed the abolition of the is of identity from the
English language. (The is of identity takes the form
X is a Y. e.g., "I am a coach",
"You are a client", "The brain is a computer" etc.)
You told me that your son has A.D.D. You said that he has
paid less attention to his school-work for the last year or so.
You also said that you and your spouse started fighting about
a year ago. Do you see a connection here? Martyn
Truth or Illusion?
Research in quantum physics indicates that much
of our visible reality is illusory. Our cosmos seems to be composed
of invisible and paradoxical energies. At a macroscopic (classical) level,
we can predict how accumulations of energy (matter) behave over time.
At a quantum level
we cannot predict the behavior of a single electron for a single moment. See
coaching in chaos.
Quantum thinking does not replace archaic or
Archaic thinking is useful for making decisions
about esoteric principles.
Classic thinking is useful for making
decisions in controllable environments.
Quantum thinking is useful for making complex
decisions in situations with
and ambiguous objectives in changing environments.
Consider quantum tunneling; electrons can
pass through impenetrable barriers by already existing on the other side.
Can this be true? This paradox is used in superconductivity. Quantum
tunneling is a feature of tunneling microscopes and other practical
applications. What do you believe?
Do quantum mechanics
repair quantum systems?
Consider Schrödinger's equation, below, which describes how
quantum systems change over time. This equation is as central to quantum mechanics
as Newton's laws are to classical mechanics, or as the Ten Commandments
are to Judeo-Christian religions. What do you believe?
Consider superstring theory; that everything in the universe -
all particles, forces and even space-time itself - consists of minute strings
that vibrate and spin in a multi-dimensional superspace. Can this be true? Are you
composed of sub-atomic, multi-dimensional energy fields? What do you believe?
Consider the simultaneous existence of parallel universes.
If reality is quantum-mechanical, then our universe should have more
structure than a collection of classical particles. Perhaps our universe should be
called a multi-verse. What do you believe?
Quantum Psychology, Beliefs & Reality
... the structure of the multiverse is determined by
information flow, and the universality of computation ensures that by studying quantum
computational networks it is possible to obtain results about information flow
that must also hold for quantum systems in general.

Why is the amount of antimatter in the universe so small?
Research at Brookhaven in 1965 revealed a slight violation of symmetry in the decay of
neutral kaons (sub-atomic particles). As a result of this violation, a slight
excess of matter survived the Big Bang. This world and your body may exist because
of a violation of a quantum law that few people have ever heard of. Can you believe in
neutral kaon decay?
Soul is said to be an immaterial essence of every individual.
Soul is described as an inner spiritual principle, a source of bodily
functions and mental activities. All human cultures seem to include beliefs in
souls that exist apart from physical bodies. Can you
believe in Soul? (See
Psychobiology of Soul)
Beliefs are not facts. Your reality is what you assume
to be true, based on what you believe. Your beliefs are either summaries of your
experience, or (more likely) pre-digested summaries that you accepted from
trusted people. Your beliefs can support your
happiness ... or your
Common consequences of clinging to obsolete beliefs include:
- Depression: You retreat from a life that does
not make sense
- Relationship Chaos: You ignore or abuse your
- Emotional Stress: You experience overwhelming anger,
sadness or fear
- Age Regression: You expect the world to follow
your immature expectations
- Addictions, Compulsions & Obsessions: You
attempt distraction and escape
You probably accepted most of your beliefs about
the world from your early authorities - your parents, relatives and
teachers. Hence many of your assumptions about reality may be based on obsolete
concepts and may be in urgent need of revision. We can help you
replace any limiting beliefs.
Quantum Coaching & Human Potential
The great law of culture
is: Let each become all that he was created capable of

For millennia, our ancestors pondered the creation of
order. They told simple stories that described the emergence of order
from primordial chaos. These archaic chaos theories are rejected by most
classical scientists, yet provide interesting metaphors for understanding
systems theories, quantum psychology and
Can you, for a moment, stop trying to understand
the world by statistical evaluation? Instead, consider evaluating
dynamic relationships between members of complex human systems.
Quantum thinking can both challenge and assist you to update
your view of reality.
Do you want to further develop your human
evolution? Do you want to explore and extend your limits? Quantum thinking and
systemic coaching offer you tools for finding or creating innovative solutions
... for example, you can explore multiple possible futures or allow
complex problems to teach you how to solve them.
Quantum Thinking & Leadership
If you want to evaluate or change a system,
you may first need to update your beliefs about reality, the system
... and yourself. Instead of statistical analysis you can apply
The principles of quantum entanglement offer you
radical insights into how the world works. If observing a system
affects the system, your observations may be forever out of date. If
when evaluating a system you become entangled in a system, your evaluations may be biased. If by predicting a system's behavior, you affect that
system's behavior - your predictions may be self-fulfilling.
When you plan, direct, or control human systems,
are you using tools derived from archaic (esoteric) thinking,
classical (Newtonian) thinking - or modern (quantum) thinking?
Our quantum coaching can help you find solutions
for unexpected problems.
Quantum Psychology & Systemic Coaching
Are you attempting to change or transform
individuals, families, teams or organizations? Are you
trying to use logical, linear plans to affect change? Are the results of
your initiatives somehow uninspiring and shallow? Do you know why?
Our systemic toolkit can help you update your
paradigm of yourself on this planet. You are a member of many relationship
systems and you are probably enmeshed in your past, current and even future
relationships: your friendships, teams, partnerships, clubs ... and of your regional and national cultures.
Systemic diagnosis can help you perceive
organizations as interactive human systems, rather than as esoteric entities or
as classical machines. With it you can better manage and change human
systems ... for example you might join a system and then change yourself!
Quantum Psychology & Entanglements
Quantum entanglements allow simultaneous action
at a distance. Human enmeshment often shows up as compulsions and inappropriate
behavior, and are
often experienced as limiting beliefs and inappropriate emotions ... see
Members of human systems follow systemic, not classical, rules. Some rules
are explicit - yet it may be against the rules to discuss the rules. Consider the systemic rules for a military unit, for a
happy hippy commune and for
your own family.

and at nuclear reactors for 18 years before I created a practical
synthesis of quantum thinking and coaching.
