What is Herpes?
The disease often called herpes is an inflammatory
skin disease caused by a group of viruses called herpes simplex
or herpesvirus. The primary symptom of herpes simplex are groups
of small blisters. Herpes outbreaks are sometimes called
serpigo. It is considered to be incurable although months may
pass between outbreaks.
There are two common types of herpes simplex - facial
and genital. Another type is herpes zoster,
which includes mononucleosis
and chickenpox (shingles or varicella).
Herpes Type 1 - Cold Sores
This type of herpes simplex virus causes cold sores or fever blisters. These blisters around the mouth and on the lips (herpes labialis); about
the nose, face, and ears; or in the mouth and pharynx. The herpes virus
is often found in the cell bodies of facial nerves in people who do not
have blisters. This virus reservoir is a source of repeated
attacks. Except for lotions to relieve pain, itching or inflammation, no
treatment has been developed. Outbreaks are often associated with stress.
Herpes Type 2 - Genital Herpes
The second type of herpes simplex virus causes a
common sexually transmitted disease (STD) known as genital herpes
or herpes genitalis. This usually begins with a mild
itching, followed by clusters of blisters that form small dry scabs
within a week or so. Genital herpes is often treated by acyclovir,
which helps prevent recurrent attacks.
Herpes Zoster - Shingles
Shingles is a recurrence of the symptoms
of chicken pox, and is caused by the varicella virus inflaming a sensory
nerve. The skin over the nerve usually breaks out in blisters a few
days after onset. This may be accompanied by pain,
numbness or high sensitivity along the nerve. Although the blisters dry
up after a week or so, the pain can last longer. Acyclovir can reduce
the symptoms of herpes zoster and help relieve pain.
Herpes zoster infections can be fatal if the person is
undergoing drug therapy for cancer or leukemia. A vaccine can help
prevent such people getting herpes zoster infections.

Herpes & Coaching
Herpes outbreaks often follow stress, physical pain
and emotional suffering. Outbreaks of herpes can be delayed or lessened in
severity if a person is coached to better control his or her reaction to stress.

Emotional Intelligence ]
Stress and emotional suffering are likely to implicate
toxic relationship habits. Two relationship habits associated with
herpes outbreaks seem to be Identity Loss and Emotional Incest.
Either of these may reflect toxic entanglements with family members.[ Identity

]
Common examples of emotional incest include, but are not
limited to, relationships between fathers and daughters, and between mothers and sons.

Occasionally, people with genital herpes experience despair
and feel suicidal. See Suicide.

applicability of any opinions or recommendations with respect to herpes,
