Relationship Management

Do you want relationships for life, relationships that support long-term happiness, relationships that help you develop their highest values and express your deepest qualities.

Systemic relationship coaching includes: Family; Friendship; Teamwork; Partnership; Parenthood and Community. We can coach you to develop quality relationships in all these areas.

Relationship Coaching

Sooner or later, you need relationship coaching. Maybe you want to resolve a crisis, to avoid worsening conflicts or to improve an already-good relationship. If you assume that you can get along without coaching, you may end potentially wonderful relationships; you may suffer problems for years; and you may never attain the happiness that could have been yours.

Many coaches, counselors, therapists and consultants advertise relationship coaching. Here are some questions to ask when choosing a format for relationship coaching, and a relationship coach:

Questions to ask Relationship Coaches ... and our answers

  1. Why did they become relationship coaches?
  2. What do they really offer?
  3. What have they published about their experience?
  4. What percentage of their practice is relationship coaching?
  5. What techniques of relationship coaching do they use?
  6. Will they describe a typical session?
  7. Will they help you resolve problems?
  8. Will they teach you appropriate relationship skills?
  9. How long, on average, is their relationship coaching?
  10. Will they meet you together or only individually?

1. How did we become relationship coaches?

In 1988, we started providing success coaching, therapeutic coaching and expert modeling in sport, business and education. By 1992 we noticed that the most profound limitations and blocks to progress, success and development were usually relationship issues.

Family traditions and office politics, previous commitments and promises, abandoned responsibilities and reckless love affairs ... contribute to relationship chaos. And in organizations; mergers and near-bankruptcies; lay-offs and takeovers can scar both management and employees.

We now specialize in relationship management. We commit to your relationship goals.

4. How much of our practice is relationship coaching?

Soulwork coaching is split between training, individual coaching and systemic coaching. Many individual issues require couple coaching - and most systemic coaching requires also resolves individual issues. At least 50% of our practice is relationship coaching.

5. What kind of relationship coaching do we use?

Systemic relationship coaching is ... systemic; and even simple systems may require complex coaching strategies. For example, a married couple may wish to "make love not war". Yet each partner brings all their previous relationships into the marriage - including parents and past partners.

6. Can we describe a typical relationship coaching session?

Usually we meet people individually, to discuss goals and prepare for simultaneous relationship coaching together. Individual sessions allow you to identify your key goals and complaints privately and without interference. Later, couple or family coaching can resolve deeper systemic issues.

7. Will we help you resolve relationship problems?

Yes we will. In systemic relationship coaching, we notice how past problems and expected future difficulties show up in current relationships. We can coach you to either express thoughts or emotions about the past or future - and deal wit the conflicts and discussions that candor and honesty provoke.

8. Will we teach you relationship skills?

We teach specific relationship skills and coach people in the areas of: Family; Friendship; Teamwork; Partnership; Parenthood and Community. We give homework to reinforce learning. We provide skills to continue your relationship journey. We coach people to coach each other!

9. How long does a relationship require coaching?

We provide short-term relationship coaching  - usually between 3-12 sessions - and long-term mentorship - meeting each month to discuss and fine-tune relationship challenges. Added time may be required if one or more members has significant individual issues that limit participation in a relationship.

10. Will we meet you together or individually?

We repeatedly find that individual change is needed for long-term effectiveness and happiness. We usually request a single sessions with each adult member of a relationship; and certainly with each partner of a partnership and with team, organizational, corporate and community leaders. After these individual sessions, we prefer that all people involved attend sessions together as far as possible.
